The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala East constituency, Amidu Issahaku Chinnia has stressed that he is against the practice of LGBTQ+ in the country.

Speaking to TV3 during an engagement on the Key Points programme on Saturday, April 13, he said any man who finds another man attractive is sick and needs to be checked in the mind.

“I see it as an illness when a man is attracted to a man or a woman is attracted to a woman, it means that there is something wrong with your mind,” Amidu Issahaku Chinnia.

The Sissala East constituency continued, “From where I sit and my love for…I mean, what will attract me to a man? I mean, I don’t know what will attract me to a man.”

The MP and other colleagues in the house passed the anti-gay bill in March.

Due to court action, President Akufo-Addo has not received the bill to consider assenting it to become law.

On Thursday, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia shared his views on LGBTQ+ when he emphasised that he is against it.

“First of all, it is important to note that our cultural and societal norms and values as Ghanaians frown on the practice of homosexuality. Furthermore, as Muslim, my view on this matter aligns with the position of my religious faith. The Holy Quran is replete with verses frowning on LGBTQ acts, including same-sex marriages. My faith is therefore very strictly against the practice of homosexuality, no "ifs" or "buts". No shades of grey.

“Therefore, I personally cannot support that which my religion, and indeed, all the major religions in Ghana as well as our societal norms and values, clearly and unequivocally forbid,” Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stressed while speaking at the Kumasi Central Mosque
