Founder and leader of the Movement for Change, John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, is on a mission to offer Ghana a new kind of leadership ahead of the 2024 elections.
In his bid to tackle the myriad challenges facing the country, Kyerematen is positioning himself as a competent leader with a vision for economic transformation.
During an interview on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’, Kyerematen underscored the critical need for visionary and competent leadership to propel Ghana towards economic prosperity.
He pointed out Ghana's abundant natural resources and potential for growth but lamented the lack of effective leadership to harness these resources.
"The management of our natural resources can either be a blessing or a curse. The advancement of a nation hinges on leadership. We urgently need a new type of leadership in our country. This leadership must embody enviable characteristics that will elevate the country beyond economic hardships," Alan emphasized.
The former Trade and Industry minister under the Akufo-Addo government stressed the importance of translating visionary ideas into tangible projects and programs while remaining accountable to the citizenry.
"We require a visionary leader who possesses the capabilities to transform the nation. Merely having a vision without the necessary competence renders one a mere dreamer. Therefore, alongside visionary leadership, competence is indispensable."
He continued, "When you actualize your aspirations into concrete projects and programs, it becomes imperative to be accountable to your constituents.
"If you're a politician and your constituents entrust you with their votes, they're placing their confidence in you to shape the nation's economy on their behalf.”
He further critiqued the dominance of the NDC and NPP, asserting that their governance has led Ghana to stagnation and dependency on foreign aid.
Drawing parallels with China's rapid economic progress, he advocated for a similar trajectory for Ghana.
