President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to commission over 120 housing units in Appiatse, a farming community located between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region.

This significant event marks a pivotal moment for the community, which tragically faced devastation two years ago.

In January 2022, a vehicle transporting approximately 10 tonnes of mining explosives to the Chirano Mines collided with a motorcycle, resulting in a catastrophic explosion that ravaged the entire Appiatse community.

Following this tragic incident, the government swiftly initiated the reconstruction process to restore hope and rebuild the lives of the affected residents. As a result, 124 housing units and complementary facilities have been meticulously constructed for the survivors.

These newly built structures, varying from one-bedroom to seven-bedroom units, boast enhanced amenities aimed at improving the quality of life for residents. Additionally, the redevelopment project includes essential infrastructure such as a market, six-unit classroom and kindergarten blocks, internal road networks, water and electricity supply, a drainage system, and a water storage facility.

The commissioning of these housing units underscores the government's commitment to providing sustainable housing solutions and revitalizing communities affected by adversity. It represents a significant milestone in the journey toward recovery and resilience for the people of Appiatse.
