Hon Yusif Sulemana, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency in the Savannah region, has urged Gonjas living in the diaspora to invest in their homeland and regularly send remittances to their families back in Ghana.

Speaking at a meeting with the Gonjaland association, UK and Ireland chapter in Leicester, UK, the MP emphasized the importance of diaspora involvement in supporting their communities.

The MP highlighted the financial responsibilities faced by families back home, such as paying school fees and organizing funerals and other social events.

He urged Gonjas in the diaspora to contribute financially to help their families fulfil these obligations.

Hon Yusif Sulemana highlighted the investment potential in the Savannah region. He mentioned the presence of valuable natural resources, including gold deposits, vast arable land for farming, and economic trees like Shea and Cashew.

The MP encouraged Gonjas in the diaspora to take advantage of these opportunities and invest in the region, as it would not only benefit them individually but also contribute to the overall development of the area.

During his visit, the MP also expressed his gratitude to the Gonjaland association, UK and Ireland chapter for their support. The association had recently provided a mechanized borehole to the Bole Technical Institute in his constituency upon his request. The borehole has significantly improved access to clean water for the students and staff of the institute.

The meeting served as a platform for open discussions on the challenges faced by Gonjas in the diaspora and opportunities for collaboration and support.

Hon Yusif Sulemana assured the association that he would continue to advocate for their concerns in parliament and work towards creating an enabling environment for diaspora investments in the Savannah region.

The MP's visit aimed to strengthen ties between the diaspora community and their homeland, fostering a sense of responsibility and commitment towards the development of Gonjaland.
