Howard University provides Computers to Oduko Boatemaa SHS

Mampong (Ash) May 30, GNA - The Howard University at the United States of America (USA) has provided 30 computers with accessories to Oduko Boatemaa Senior High School (SHS) at Asante Mampong, in the Ashanti Region, for an Information and Communication Technology Centre.

Speaking at the ceremony, held at the School's compound at Mampong, Professor Amy Oppong Yeboah, a lecturer at the University and the team leader, expressed their happiness to be in the School and be part of the School's development.

She said their visit to Africa in general, and Ghana, in particular, would go a long way to help improve the already cordial relationship between Ghana and the USA.

Mrs Oduko Boatemaa, the proprietress of the school, thanked the Team for making her school one of their destinations in Ghana, and especially making it possible for the school to have an ICT Centre.

Mr Gove Hulede, a Deputy Director of Education in the Mampong Education Directorate, said the ICT centre would go a long way to improve the quality of education in the School.

He gave the assurance that the ICT experts at the Directorate would be made available to train the students to learn how to handle the computers.

Nana Amankwaah Afrifa, a sub-chief of Mampong Traditional Area, and the chairperson for the occasion, expressed his gratitude to the Team for their assistance and, particularly, to Professor Amy Oppong Yeboah for remembering her roots and her willingness to help develop education in the area.

Oduko Boatemaa SHS is a private institution established in 2012 with a current student- population of 80.
