The Electoral Commission of Ghana say they are expecting a total of 106,816 voters in the Ejisu by-election today April 30, 2024.

The over one hundred thousand voters according to the EC are coming from 28 electoral areas.

Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr Serebour Quaicoe has said 204 polling stations carved from the 28 electoral areas will host the voters during the by-election.

Speaking to this Reporter on Monday April 29,2024, Dr Quaicoe said the Commission is ready to conduct the Ejisu by-election election in a transparent and fair manner.

He assured all stakeholders in the by-election that the electoral management body is adequately prepared to conduct the elections as mandated.

Dr Serebour Quaicoe noted that the EC had made available all the materials needed for the election, adding that, all materials arrived at Ejisu on Friday, three days ahead of the election.

Death of Sitting MP
The by-election in Ejisu follows the death of the sitting Member of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party NPP, Lawyer John Ampontuah Kumah.

He died on March 7,2024 after a short illness. Following his death, Parliament notified the Electoral Commission to conduct a by-election in the constituency.

Notice of Poll
The Notice of Poll published by the Electoral Commission ahead of the election indicates that six candidates are contesting for MP.

Number one on the ballot paper is the candidate for the Convention People’s Party CPP Esther Osei, followed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng.

Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG's) Beatrice Boakye number three, while the former MP for the area Hon Kwabena Owusu Aduomi who's contesting as independent candidate occupies the fourth position.

The two remaining candidates all contesting as independent, Fredua Agyeman Joseph and Atakora Joseph are occupying the fifth and sixth positions respectively.
