President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has indicated that his government is keen on investing in renewable energy infrastructure for the country.

According to him, government is making these investments to not only make the country energy self-sufficient but eco-friendly for other countries in the region to emulate.

“By investing in renewable energy infrastructure, we are securing a reliable source of electricity and creating new opportunities for economic growth and job creation.

“The vision, however, is not only to be energy self-sufficient, but also to set the stage for Ghana to emerge as an eco-friendly country in the Region, inspiring neighbouring countries to follow suit in their pursuit of a greener, more energy-technology-centred future,” President Akufo-Addo said on Wednesday, April 24.

The President was delivering a speech at a ceremony held in Kaleo to officially inaugurate phase two of the Kaleo Solar Power Plants.

The plant will not only power homes and businesses but also catalyze development in the Upper West Region, attracting investment and spurring innovation.

President Akufo-Addo strongly believes that investing in renewable energy infrastructure will help the country attain full electricity access by the end of this year.

“It is our intention to attain full electricity access by the end of this year, up from the current rate of eighty-eight-point-eight percent (88.8%),” the President noted.
