President Nana Akufo-Addo has nominated Felicia Edem Attipoe as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema West Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region.
This was contained in a letter dated April 24, addressed to the Regional Minister and sighted by ModernGhana News.
Martin Adjei-Mensaah Korsah, who signed on behalf of the President, said "H.E. the President in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (L) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) has nominated the undermentioned person to the office of Municipal Chief Executive, pending approval by the Tema West Municipal Assembly."
The letter further stated that "In view of the above, you are kindly requested to liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated Chief Executive."
Per Ghana's local governance structure, the President nominates MMDCEs for the various assemblies whiles the assemblies have the power to either confirm or reject the nominees.
The confirmation process is expected to be conducted shortly by the Greater Accra Regional Electoral Commission.
If approved, she will succeed Anna Adukwei Addo as the second successive female to hold the position.
