The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for 2024 will be written from July 8 to 12.

In a press statement dated March 26, WAEC said registration of candidates for the 2024 BECE for both public and private candidates opened on March 11 and will close on April 19.

The statement signed by the head of WAEC's Public Affairs Department, noted "The BECE for School and Private Candidates, 2024 will be administered from Monday, 8th to Friday, 12th July, 2024."

It further noted that "All relevant stakeholders are urged to adhere to these timelines as the Council may not be able to accommodate late entries due to test security reasons."

This year's examination will see a difference in syllabus for public and private candidates due to the introduction of the new common core curriculum.

As such, candidates have been advised to take note of the subjects available based on whether they are school or private candidates to avoid any hitches during the examinations.

"While School candidates will be examined based on the common core curriculum, the Private candidates will be examined on the old syllabus. All private candidates are therefore to note and be careful when selecting their subjects,” said the statement.

The registration fee for the 2024 BECE remains GH¢214.01 according to WAEC.
