Captain of Tema Country Golf Club Joshua Peprah has described this year's Tema Open golf competition held at the Club on Sunday as a huge success.

To him, new sponsors replacing their traditional counterparts coupled with good organization and high turnout ranks the 2nd edition of the four-day event high.

The event, the biggest on the Club's calendar drew golfers from across the country and some parts of the sub-region.

In a post-tourney interview on hole 18, Peprah said in plain words “It's been a huge success, as you can see, the turnout is great and the level of competition is up there. For me, the coming on board of new sponsors speaks volumes. We won't relent, rather, we have come to the realization that hard work indeed pays.”

Yao Dogbe recorded a 143 score over two days to finish first in the scratch (main) event, P. Tender and Felix Luis Anthonio followed with 150 scores apiece.

It was M. Acheampong, who picked the men's Division Handicap event with 137 score also over two days, while A. Mensah won the men's  Group B event  with a 134 net.

The Seniors event was dominated by Charles Martey with Ama Morgan picking the ladies version.

Celebrated pro golfer Emos Koblah relied on his vast experience to shrug off stern competition from youthful Vincent Torgah, Francis Torgah and Kojo Barni in that order.

Tema Lady captain Mona Captan Lamptey shot 169 score in two days, beating Jessica Teye by three strokes to win the ladies scratch event. Royal Golf Club, Kumasi's Felicity O. Gyeabour 177 and Beatrice Vetch Bempong 180 followed in that order.

The ladies Group Handicap saw Fredrick Hurtubise winning with a 146 score with Fabbi Cathy and Florence Etwi-Barimah.

Leticia Amponsah-Mensah picked the ladies Longest Drive prize, while L. Attiogbe went home with the men's prize.

Felicity again picked the ladies closest-to-the pin prize with Felix Antonio taking home the men's category.

Hurtubise emerged the juniors winner with Kwabena Asotia Boakye following.

The event received backing by way of sponsorship from ABL, Subah, First Atlantic Bank, Nero Mineral Water, Sunon Asogli, Somotex and First Bank Limited.
