Cup of Nations 2017 AFCON DRAW: Ghana FA Vice George Afriyie insists Ghana is in the toughest group
OCT 20, 2016 LISTEN

Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie says Ghana is in the toughest group at next year's African Cup of Nations to be held in Gabon.

Ghana were handed World Cup group opponents Uganda and Egypt as well as West Africa counterparts Mali.

And the experienced Ghana FA Vice insists it is the toughest group at the tournament next year.

"I think that our group is the toughest. It is similar to the World Cup Draw (because we have Egypt and Uganda). It will be a repeat of the World Cup qualifiers. I always trust my boys and the results of the draw will bring the best out of them,' he told reporters after the draw yesterday in Gabon.

Egypt will be fighting hard to re-live their glory days after missing out of the tournament on three consecutive occasions while Uganda will be looking to complete their history after qualifying for the first time in 38 years.

Ghana's West Africa neighbours Mali have won bronze in two of the last three Afcon finals and will be looking to advance from the group to make another name for themselves.

The tournament starts in January next year and ends in February.
