Cup of Nations 2017 AFCON DRAW: Egypt chief Ihab Leheta tips good coaches to rule Group D
OCT 20, 2016 LISTEN

Team Manager of the senior national team of Egypt, Ihab Leheta has tipped the team with a good coach to rule Group D after the 2017 Afcon draw in Gabon on Wednesday.

Egypt were drawn in Group D with four times Africa Champions Ghana, West Africa powerhouse Mali and Uganda.

To Ihab, three of the teams, Uganda, Ghana and Egypt are already in the 2018 World Cup qualifying group and the best coach will top his group.

He argued that since all the teams will play each other before the Afcon kicks off in January,  all the team will get to know themselves well and the coaches will be left to decide who wins.

"It is the same group as in the World Cup qualifiers except Congo. All teams in Africa now are very strong. We have not been participating in the last three editions and this is why we have to be in a good shape," he said.

"It is very difficult to play the same teams in the World Cup qualifiers (Ghana and Uganda). On the other side, it is a good sign as the teams will get to know each other. Now it will be left to the coaches," he added.

Ghana drew goalless with the Cranes of Uganda in the opening group game of the 2018 Afcon and will be playing Egypt next month in Alexandria.
