Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways with a 1-0 hard-fought win over FC Samartex on Sunday in the Matchday 27 games.

The victory pushes the struggling Kumasi-based side five points clear of the relegation zone, alleviating some of the mounting pressure on the club’s technical team.

Prior to defeating Samartex, Kotoko had suffered six losses and managed only one draw in their last seven matches.

Prosper Nartey Ogum, who had received a vote of confidence from the management earlier in the week, emphasized the significance of returning to winning form.

"Once you win, you're okay. It's now about maintaining focus," Ogum, who is the head coach for the side said after the game at the Baba Yara Stadium.

"The game is all about results, particularly when you're coaching a team like Asante Kotoko. It doesn't matter how well you play. Even if you don't play well and win, it's okay," he added.

Enock Morrison's spot kick was enough as the Porcupine Warriors secured the three points.
