Ghana coach, Otto Addo has explained why Lawrence Ati-Zigi started ahead of Jojo Wollacott in the friendly game against Nigeria.

In the first of the two friendly games, the St. Gallen shotstopper against the Super Eagles on Friday at the Stade de Marrakesh.

Speaking ahead of the final friendly against the Cranes of Uganda, Addo praised Ati Zigi's performance on the day and attributed his decision to start the former U-20 goalkeeper to his regular game time at club level.

"Ati-Zigi had a good match. I gave him the start because he is a regular player at his club," Otto Addo said.

"Frederick [Asare] is new and young. I think he made a good first impression.

"He is very calm on the ball and has a very good technique. Jojo [Wollacott] at the moment is not playing at his club, so it will be difficult to say he will be number 1," he added.

The Black Stars will hope to record a win against Uganda before they take on Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June later this year.
