“There are two things in elections, it's either you win or you lose so losing an election wouldn't be a problem for my brother” – Alfred Mahama, an elder brother to President John Dramani Mahama, has stated prior to the December 7 general elections.

In an interview on OKAY FM's morning show dubbed, 'Ade Akye Bia,' Alfred, who is also a businessman and mining consultant, noted that his brother will not hesitate to venture into farming if voted out of office.

“If my brother falls behind Nana Addo in the upcoming elections, we will pack our things and go to our village and continue with our farming. We [Myself, John Mahama and Ibrahim Mahama] were all into farming before politics, so President Mahama will go back to farming if Ghanaians do not vote for him,” he told host Kwame Nkrumah Tikese.

Alfred Mahama, however, lauded his brother for his tremendous developmental projects across the length and breadth of the country.

“For Ghanaians, it's not development and mounting structures or good roads; what they need is just make sure the money flows into their pockets. The president will reshape his strategy and tune himself to what Ghanaians want if maintained.”

According to him, “This election should not be violent; it's not a do or die affair. All we are doing is working hard to maintain him [President Mahama] in power.”
