Supporters of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) have threatened to boycott Ghana’s general elections scheduled for December 7 if their Flagbearer, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom lose his case against the Electoral Commission (EC) over his disqualification.

The court is expected to give judgement on the matter today, Friday after hearing the matter on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, ahead of the judgment, supporters of the party have gathered in their numbers opposite the premises of the court in Accra.

“I am from Elmina and I am telling you that we the people of the PPP are rallying behind Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom and we are saying that even if he is not brought back on the ballot paper, we are not going to vote,” one of them told Citi News.

“We the people of the PPP would just go and vote for the parliamentary candidate and we won't vote for the presidential, we don't rally behind any other political party, only Progressive People's Party. And we know and we are sure that by December 7 we are going to see the picture of Dr. Nduom on the ballot paper,” another one who gave his name as Ekow Vandike said.

Another person who said he came all the way from Komenda to support Dr. Nduom in court also said “the EC has not been fair to our Flagbearer.”

“We have declaration of assets, filing of VAT returns and all that yet the EC used something else to disqualify him. The EC should have given us some time to amend our nomination forms if there were issues with it. By the grace of God the case will go in our favour. If it doesn't happen, we are going to the international court. This man has invested a lot in this election.”

He said Dr. Nduom is the only candidate he would vote for and if per chance the court’s judgment goes against them he would advice himself.

“He is the one I'm going to vote for so if I don't see him on the ballot sheet, I will not vote for any candidate apart from my parliamentary candidate. Either than that I will go to the polling station with my crayon draw Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, colour him and vote for him myself,” he added.

We’ll go to Supreme court if…
The PPP has also served notice  it will go to the Supreme Court if the High Court hearing its case against the EC does not rule in its favour.
