A National Security operative has been killed by suspected armed robbers at Langbensi, near Walewale in the Northern Region.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the deceased Martin W. Ibn Wuni was travelling with some other persons in a cross-country vehicle and when they got to a location near Langbensi, four armed men emerged from the bush and fired gunshots at the windscreen of the vehicle.

According to reports, the deceased, who got married last year, was travelling to Garu in the Upper East Region to visit his in-laws.

A family member, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE, said the matter had been reported to the police and the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue pending autopsy.

He indicated that the death of the deceased has shocked the entire family, urging the police to arrest and prosecute the armed robbers.

Northern Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said the deceased, who was with a military officer in the vehicle, decided to use the Walewale-Gambaga Road.

The four robbers, who were wielding locally manufactured guns, fired shots at the vehicle but the military officer was able to disarm one of them and the rest fled into the bush.

The military officer travelled to a nearby village to inform the police about the incident.

He indicated that the police combed the bush in search of the culprits but they were yet to be apprehended.
