Zoomlion Ghana applauded at Habitat III Conference

Quito (Ecuador), Oct. 20, GNA - Participants at the United Nations (UN) Habitat III Quito, Ecuador, has applauded Zoomlion Ghana, the leading waste and sanitation Management Company in Ghana for sanitation management.

The waste and management company received the commendation from the participants after a presentation done by Mr Mohammed Mahama Adams, a Communications Officer at the side event of Ghana at the ongoing UN-Habitat Habitat III Conference in Quito, Ecuador.

The participants were particularly pleased about Zoomlion's innovative initiative in waste and sanitation management in Ghana and in other African countries.

The products and services captured in brochures, banners, and other souvenirs which were displayed at the event were the main attraction as country representatives, individuals, companies and non-governmental organisations troops to.

The Zoomlion stand also has become news attraction joint for international journalists covering the Habitat III as they constantly visit the Ghana booth to interact with the company's representatives.

The company with more than 10 years experience in waste management in Ghana and scores of African countries had won a number of international awards for its dedication to waste and sanitation management.

In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Mr Adams said Zoomlion had shared its innovative programmes such as Afforestation, Street Cleaning, Ecobrigade, Zoil and the provision of free waste bins to communities and households with other participants.

He said Zoomlion's most significant contribution at the Habitat III conference was its boldness in drawing the attention of the organisers of the event to the fact that sanitation and waste management was left out in the broader discussions of urbanisation and urban development.

He said the missing gap in the Habitat III Conference, which was focused mainly on urban development from a housing equity perspective, was wrong as it failed to take into account the consequences of urban development.

The Communication Officer reminded the world that urban development policies should begin with thoughts about how to deal with urban waste and sanitation.

He said Zoomlion had been classified as a contemporary international organisation with foresight and vision and with the capability to influence up-to-date thinking and practice in waste and sanitation management in all sectors.

Mr Albert Ankrah, an Officer of the Company's Business Development Unit said as an indigenous Ghanaian company, Zoomlion was committed to becoming the champion of a cleaner, greener and healthy environment all across Africa.

He expressed Zoomlion's appreciation of the commendations and recognitions received on the global stage, adding that, the organisation was humbled by such international applauses.

Mr Ankrah said waste and sanitation management, expounded on the works of Zoomlion as more of a social investment that puts public health, social welfare and the efficient management of the natural environment before profits.

The Ghana side event was on the theme: 'Urban Development Management in Ghana and Implications for the New Urban Agenda: 'The Case Study of the Urban Management Pilot Programme and the National Priority Planned City Extension of Ningo-Prampram.

The Habitat III Conference serves as a platform to ratify and adopt the 'New Urban Agenda' which would focus on Climate Change, protection and public Safety.
