Dumsor: Stop 'lying' to us and be serious —Nana Yaa Jantuah to Akufo-Addo
02.05.2024 LISTEN

Nana Yaa Jantuah, the former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has admonished President Nana Akufo-Addo to adopt a more serious and truthful approach to addressing the issues affecting Ghanaians.

Jantuah's remarks come in reaction to President Akufo-Addo's recent assertion that the recent power challenges have been effectively resolved.

The President made these statements during his address to organised labour at the annual May Day celebration in Accra, where he expressed confidence in the stability of the country's power supply mesures.

“Issues surrounding the maintenance of the transformers have been resolved. Indeed, we have witnessed stable power supply across the country with no load shedding reported anywhere yesterday (Tuesday, April 30)…I am confident that the unfortunate era of dumsor will not return,” Akufo-Addo said.

However, in an interview on TV3’s ‘The Big Issue’ programme, Mrs. Jantuah disputed the President's claims, referring to her personal experience of enduring a 12-hour power outage on the very day the President made the pronouncement.

"The dumsor is with us… we are in a dire situation that has to be dealt with… and they should stop lying about it. The President should be careful that you don’t rule a country with oratory. When we are in a serious situation, you deal with it in a very serious manner," she asserted.
