NDC condemns Barbara Oteng Gyasi for verbally assaulting a communicator
26.04.2024 LISTEN

The National Democratic Congress in the Prestea Huni-Valley constituency condemns in the strongest possible terms the verbal assault by NPP parliamentary candidate, Mrs. Barbara Oteng Gyasi, on Mr. Kojo Annu (a.k.a Action Man), an NDC communicator.

It is deeply concerning to witness those seeking public office display such a lack of tolerance for divergent opinions and constructive criticism. In a democratic society like ours, freedom of speech and expression are fundamental rights that should be respected and upheld by everyone. However, these rights should not be undermined or silenced by those who seek power.

We call on Mrs. Barbara Oteng Gyasi to render an unqualified apology to Mr. Annu for visiting his shop and insulting him because of his harmless submission on a radio station in relation to galamsey exposé by Captain Smart against Minerals Commission Board Chairperson Barbara Oteng Gyasi and Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, including Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Hon Miraku Duka for allegedly being involved in galamsey activities. We hope that she will learn from this incident and respect the rights of others to express their opinions freely, without fear of retribution or intimidation, regardless of differing viewpoints.

The NDC remains committed to the principles of democracy, tolerance, and respect for the rights of all individuals, and we will not be deterred by such unacceptable behavior from anyone. We urge her to reflect on her actions and the impact they have on our democratic discourse and promote a culture of open dialogue and constructive criticism.

Thank you.
