Franklin Cudjoe, the Founding President of policy think tank IMANI Africa, says President Nana Akufo-Addo should have appointed Mohammed Amin Adam as Finance Minister long ago.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 17, Mr. Cudjoe praised Amin Adam's skilled background in energy economics.

He posited that it would have helped prevent some of the problematic energy deals that have plagued the country.

He wrote, "Nana Addo should have made this man, Finance Minister long ago. His very skilled background in energy economics would have been helpful in preventing crookish energy deals that have landed us into irritating Dumsor poverty."

The policy advisor added that the President's choice of appointments lately have been worrying.

“Nana Addo worry us paaaaa oo. . Well, let's see what he can do in the government's dying days,” he stated.

The comments come after Amin Adam who took over from Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister, recently promised a sector-wide audit of the energy sector to improve governance.

He said, "We will, for example, conduct a sector-wide audit of the energy sector, strengthen the implementation of the cash waterfall mechanism, review the PURC tariff setting methodology to reduce or eliminate discretion and also to make the formula and the process of tariff setting more transparent."
