I must assert that the notion that a running mate or vice president automatically becomes the presumptive presidential candidate is a weak argument that should be dismissed. Similarly, using years spent in politics as the sole criterion for selecting a running mate lacks merit. President John Mahama's choice of Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate was driven by the imperative of ensuring fair representation of women in our political landscape.

Nation-building hinges not only on sound economic policies but also on human development. There exists a fundamental flaw in our educational system that the political establishment has failed to address adequately. This underscores the continued significance of having Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate. It's worth noting that certain elements within the NPP are actively working to undermine Ghana's progress by aiming to extend their term beyond the mandated eight years. Thus, winning the 2024 elections is imperative for the NDC.

Let's move beyond debates about the running mate and speculation about 2028. Instead, let's focus on exposing the detrimental policies of the NPP and securing victory in the 2024 elections. We must transform the NPP's aspiration of "breaking the eight" into an unattainable goal.

With that said, President John Mahama's selection of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate in 2020 remains a prudent and compelling choice for the upcoming 2024 Ghanaian elections. Despite the outcome of the previous election which was rigged, Professor Opoku-Agyemang's credentials and experience are more relevant than ever in the current political and economic climate.

Firstly, Professor Opoku-Agyemang's distinguished tenure as Vice-Chancellor at the University of Cape Coast underscores her leadership abilities and commitment to education, a crucial sector for Ghana's development. Her historic appointment as the first female Vice-Chancellor of a state university in Ghana reflects her trailblazing spirit and dedication to breaking barriers, qualities that resonate with voters seeking progressive change.

Moreover, Professor Opoku-Agyemang's subsequent role as Minister of Education during John Mahama's administration demonstrates her capacity to navigate complex policy challenges and implement effective reforms. In a time of economic hardship and dissatisfaction with the incumbent government's performance, her proven track record in education and governance offers a compelling alternative for Ghanaians seeking competent leadership and tangible solutions.

Furthermore, the ongoing economic difficulties under Dr. Bawumia's administration highlight the urgent need for experienced and capable leadership. Professor Opoku-Agyemang's integrity, intellect, and commitment to public service make her a trusted and respected female figure capable of uniting the nation and steering Ghana towards the better Ghana we all aspire to see.

In conclusion, President John Mahama should reaffirm his confidence in Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang by selecting her as his running mate for the 2024 elections. Her exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication to education, and proven ability to effect positive change make her an indispensable asset to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a compelling choice for Ghana's future.
