Renowned Ghanaian rapper Andy Agyemang, popularly known as YPee has expressed concern over the state of rap music in Ghana.

He has observed that hardcore rappers are switching to singing due to lack of financial opportunities in the genre.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, YPee said "Rap Music In Ghana Is Dying!! Almost All Our Hardcore Rappers In The Country Have Switched To Singing Now Because Rap Gidigidi no koraa Sika Biaa Nnim!!"

He attributed this trend to the inability of rappers to generate significant incomes from their craft.

“You Need To Have A Commerical Hit Song Out There That The People Like To Actually Make Some Money Here!! We Can't Blame Nobody! Ibi Survival Mode!!! Sad But That's The Reality Now!!" YPee wrote.

One known rapper who seems to have switched to signing in recent times is Amerado.

The 2023 Ghana Music Awards’ Rapper of the Year has been consistent with hit songs following his switch with songs such as ‘Kwaku Ananse’ and ‘Abronoma’.

'Kwaku Ananse' is a contender in both the Best Highlife Song and Most Popular Song of the Year categories in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards slated for June 1.
