Andre Ayew will be available for Ghana at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations as his club West Ham  will return to action from injury by December.

The Black Stars were fearing the attacker would not be available for the tournament in Gabon in January after he suffered the injury last week.

West Ham coach Slaven Bilic even suggested that the Ghana international would be out of action for four months which means he will return to action by January.

This could have ruled him out of action for Africa's flagship football competition.

But the club's head of medical and sports science Stijn Vandenbroucke says the Ghana international will not require surgery and he could return to the pitch by December.

"Andre will not have surgery and we have started the rehab straight away, working two times a day," he told the club's official website.

"It is early to put a time-line on the rehab, but we are positive to reintroduce him in December."

Ayew's return in December means he will be fit for the start of the tournament in Gabon in January.
