A great display of football artistry from Black Stars midfielder Solomon Asante aided TP Mazembe to secure a semi final berth in the 2015/2016 CAF Confederation Cup competition, having beaten Mouloudia (MO) Bejaia of Algeria 1-0 on Wednesday in Lumumbashi.

Solomon Asante picked the ball deep inside his own half, beat three players on the road and sent a pass to fellow Ghanaian (Yaw Frimpong) on the right. Yaw Frimpong hold up play and sent the ball back to Asante who teed up intelligently with Rainford Kalaba in the 61st minute to score from a close angle.

The diminutive winger could not hide his excitement after the game in an interview.

“I had one of my best games today and I give God all the glory and the supporters who came in their numbers to cheer us to victory,” he said.

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei came on in the 84th minute to replace goals corer Rainford Kalaba whiles former Liberty Professionals left back, Dominic Kissi Boateng was an unused substitute.

MO Bejaia nearly pulled parity in stoppage time, but Yasine Salhi’s shot flashed off the post leaving the score line at 1-0 in favour of TP Mazembe.

TP Mazembe tops the Group A log with 10 points, followed by Medeama Sporting Club and MO Bejaia with 5 points each.
