League Report Ghana Premier League: Techiman City maintain home superiority with win against Inter Allies
JUL 23, 2016 LISTEN

Techiman City maintained their home superiority as they extended Inter Allies' barren run away from home in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Two goals late in the first from Clement Boahen and Isaac Baah (penalty) were enough to sink Jimmy Cobblah's men in Techiman as they seek to survive the relegation cancer.

The Eleven Is To One started brightly with Frederick Boateng terrorising the GPL debutants backline. He almost grabbed the opening goal five minutes into the game when he reached out to Frederick Yamoah's long ball but his final shot was inches wide.

He was at the end of Emmanuel Nettey's long free kick, but he directed the ball above the cross bar.

At the other end, Okyere Sarpong blasted a shot from about 30 yards straight into the waiting arms of Osei Kwame who guarded Allies' post.

It was an even game seemingly heading into the recess with neither side scoring. However, Clement Boahen caught the defensive line of Inter Allies off guard the struck home the opening goal of the game.

Before Inter Allies could settle and respond, they conceded a penalty within the same minute, and Isaac Baah took responsibility and gave them a mountain to climb in the second half.

The second department was more of individual brilliance from either side as Osei Kwame and Emmanuel Nettey thwarted Techiman City's search for the third goal of the afternoon.

First, it was the the former with a sumptuous diving save to deny Issaka Ibrahim before Emmanuel Nettey timely intervened with a block to deny Isaac from shooting.

Techiman City pressured Allies who were very compact in defence. Jimmy Cobblah made a double substitution to freshened up his squad, replacing Kingsley Nnamdi and Frederick Yamoah with Prince Baffoe and Sulley Mohammed respectively.

The duo almost made an impact as they combined to set up the impressive Isaac Osae, but he fluffed the opportunity for a consolation and live ware for their quest for a point.

Inter Allies huffed and puffed, but it was without success as Techiman City walked home with all three points whilst extending the Eleven Is To One's poor performance away from home.

Both sides now occupy 10th and 14th positions on the league log respectively, but with only 4 points difference.
