League Report Ghana Premier League: Kotoko has improved since Duncan left - Opoku Nti
MAY 31, 2016 LISTEN

Samuel Opoku Nti, General Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has said he has not regretted the management decision to ask David Duncan to step aside.

After a series of poor performance and bad results under the former Hearts of Oak trainer in six matches into the 2015-16 Ghana Premier League season, the Porcupine Warriors took the decision to part ways with Duncan under circumstances critics described as 'bizarre'.

Michael Osei, who understudied Duncan, was given the confidence to take over the coaching responsibilities, and fortunes of the team has been turned around. He has led the team from the bottom of the league log to a third place after the first round, and Opoku Nti says the decision has been the best for the club.

"I don't regret asking coach David Duncan to step aside [until further notice]. I haven't even thought of his absence because the team has improved since he left," the 'Lord of the green turf' as Opoku Nti is affectionately called said in an interview with Ashh FM.

"There was sometime in the season when we were at the bottom of the table, but since we made the decision, the team is now third on the league table after the first round and have the same points with the team on the second place.

"That should tell us the team has improved' he reiterated.

Mr. Nti also eulogised the tremendous work done by Michael Osei and his able lieutenants.

"Michael Osei and his crew have done very well to turn around a season which began badly. We were in a difficult period but we have won matches and we are now placed at a position that we are hopeful of winning the league."

Asante Kotoko has won 7 in 9 league matches since Michael Osei took over in March.
