From 3 October to 9 October 2016, the Normandy town of Bayeux will host the 23rd Bayeux-Calvados War Correspondents Awards. This year’s event will highlight the plight of the refugees and migrants flooding towards Europe.
Twenty-five 2.5 metre wide sheets printed with photographs will be hung on the walls around the city. A code on each photograph will provide access to related interactive content – blog posts, slide shows and videos. The photographs will be on display until 30 October 2016.
A catalogue featuring 16 AFP blog posts blogs de l’AFP on the refugee crisis will be available from the Tourism Office. These first person accounts offer a behind-the-scenes look at the work of AFP and the media in general.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, 8 October from 6:30 pm, and can be viewed via live streaming on prixbayeux.org and calvados.fr. Fifty-five coverages are competing for 11 prizes across the different categories: eight international jury trophies plus three special awards (print media, photo and television).
