Accra, Aug. 25, GNA - Mr William K. Karikari, the Deputy Executive Secretary, Civil and Local Government Service Staff Association of Ghana (CLOSSAG) has described as a huge success the recent industrial action embarked upon by the Association.

He explained that it's because of the impact of the strike that was why President John Dramani Mahama had to intervene leading to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the leadership of CLOGSAG and the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu on Thursday, August 18.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Karikari lauded members of the Association for adhering to the call for industrial action as the last resort for redress.

On why some members of the Association were going to work at the time of the strike, he said it was very difficult to get a perfect situation.

He however, blamed some heads of state institutions who he accused of forcing their staff to report to work.

He said CLOSSAG was very hopeful that government would abide by its decision to resolve the grievances in the 2017 national budget.

It would be recalled that President Mahama in his address at the 10th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Trades Union Congress in Kumasi, said any attempt to yield to CLOGSAG's demands would throw the 2016 budget completely off track.

He however assured that their demands were going to be factored into the 2017 budget, and hence directed the Minister of Employment and Labour to sign an MoU with CLOGSAG to that effect.
