AUG 24, 2016 LISTEN

Ghanaian Times reporter risked using her camera to ward off some angry supporters of the embattled man of God, Bishop Obinim at the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters who tried to beat her this morning.

Anita Nyarko Yirenkyi tried to photograph the wife of Bishop, Florence Obinim, who was in the company of some fleshy ladies and stout men leaving the police Headquarters.

Her husband, founder and leader of the God's Way International Church was transfered from the Tema Police Command to the CID Headqaurters and subsuquently detained at the Nima police cells where he spent the night.

Yirenkyi's attackers who were said to be bodyguards of the Bishop and his wife were later threatening journalists following the event.

As soon as Yirenkyi positioned herself, one of the ladies shouted at her and warned her not to take pictures.

Whether Yirenkyi took any picture is not known but the lady moved swiftly to slap the journalist who shouted at her "Come I will hit you with the camera."

However sensing danger the lady coiled into her shell while the men who wanted to teach Yirenkyi a lesson, saw the police around and abandon their intention but never stop raining insult on reporters.

Some of the supporters displayed the Bishop’s photos calling him an angel while others were shouting "No Obinim, no votes."
