The Hague (AFP) - The International Criminal Court will hand down judgement next month against a Malian jihadist who has pleaded guilty to attacking ancient mausoleums in the fabled desert city of Timbuktu.

"The chamber will now retire to prepare its judgement. Judgement and sentence will follow continuously," judge Raul Pangalangan said, setting the date for September 27.
