Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings performed “very poorly” when she took her turn at the Institute of Economic Affairs’ Conversation platform designed for presidential nominees whose parties do not have representation in parliament, the All People’s Party (APC), led by flagbearer Hassan Ayariga, has said.

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and wife of former President Jerry Rawlings, among other things, said should she win the December polls, her government will build four salt factories along coastal Ghana for export to oil-producing countries.

She also said her government will put in place a legal framework to ensure that all homes had solar panels as part of her energy efficiency strategy. She also accused the Mahama administration of messing up the economy through incompetence and corruption.

However, a statement signed by the APC’s General Secretary, Razak Kojo Opoku, to announce its decision to boycott the IEA’s platforms for presidential nominees said: “…I pity Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings for her very poor delivery at the IEA Conversation”.

“Madam, with all the noise and vilification against your husband’s party, we thought you are going to be the best alternative to NDC, but surprisingly, your analysis and responses to the questions at IEA’s [Conversion] shows that you and your NDP are not really serious for political power.

“You couldn't utilise 19 years of political power as a First Lady to transform Ghana and positively change lives, what can you use four years of political power to achieve?” the APC wondered.
