Dereliction Of Duty By Ghana Embassy In China
01.07.2016 LISTEN

It is with a heavy heart that I write this piece. Missions of the various countries apart from them satisfying the tenets of international relations and diplomacy, their main function is also to ensure the welfare of the citizenry in the countries the find themselves. But the case of the Embassy of Ghana in the People’s Republic of China is more of a travesty in terms of the core functions of missions abroad.

I lay this premise because of an incident that happened on Sunday the 26th of June, 2016 in Xiamen Province, China. It was a motor accident involving a Ghanaian by name Ali Fuseini aka. Hanahan Jeff. He lived on the mexico street Hse No 119/1 Takoradi. He died instantly.

As at now, my background checks of which the sources are absolutely credible indicate that the Ghana mission here in china has not done anything to intervene and ensure safe processes aimed at getting to the bottom of the matter in a manner becoming of a mission abroad. I am worried because if this the posturing of our mission an institution that serve as the ultimate home of all Ghanaians within the precincts of china then it means Ghanaians in china should watch out. It is the most reckless behavior from an institution like that.

International relations and diplomacy tied to international law enjoins missions to be so much concerned about the day to day happenings in the lives of all citizens of the missions abroad. There seem to be inconsistencies in the way communication on this matter has been managed especially as there seems to be conflicting communication on what exactly the Ghana embassy in sanlitun is doing about the death of our beloved brother. In short there is a complete disregard for

I don’t want to believe that this failure on the part of the embassy to take responsibility is in line with the incompetence that is currently being exhibited by President Mahama and his administration in Ghana who any way is the appointer of these Persons at the Ghana embassy in Beijing. Some have even made the argument that the mission here is failing to act because the deceased was a sympathizer of the New Patriotic Party. Does Diplomacy now know Party colours? When did the Embassy become a party annex of the NDC?

As we pray that the almighty puts the soul of our departed brother in his bosom I am with this piece calling on all Ghanaians both in Ghana and China to take due cognizance of the posturing of the Embassy and their complete dereliction of duty on crucial matters. We are virtually “embasyless’’ with this approach. It is an act of irresponsibility and a further dent on the image of President Mahama, the outgoing President of Ghana.

Ghanaians home and abroad deserve better!
We are rising for Change
Ghana deserves better!
