Nankese (E/R), June 29, GNA - The South Akim Rural Bank, in the Suhum Municipality is building a community day senior high school (SHS) at Nankese in the Suhum Municipality to complement efforts by the government at promoting access to education.

Construction works on a two-story classroom block, which comes with a library, offices and a workshop have now reached the roofing stage.

Mr. W.K. Boateng, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, announced that it had voted GHȼ150,000.00 towards the completion of the structure and said the job would be finished before the next academic year.

The bank had already pumped GHȼ440,000.00 into the project, started five years ago.

He said the completion of the school would bring enormous benefits to children and parents not only in Nankese but other nearby communities - those who completed junior high schools (JHS) would no longer have to struggle to gain admission to schools in Koforidua and Suhum.

He expressed satisfaction with the massive support for the project by the community - by way of providing labour.

Mr. Emmanuel Asante-Akuffo, the Vice Chairman of the Board, said the expectation was that it would be absorbed into the public education system so that cost of tuition and other charges would be picked by the government to avoid overburdening parents.

The chief, Nana Annor Marfo, said they were grateful to the bank and rallied the people to stand solidly behind the project 'to make it a dream come true'.
