Nanas Caliber Is Rare In Africa – MP
29.06.2016 LISTEN

From Issah Alhassan, Kumasi
Nana-Addo-Dankwa-Akufo-Addo
THE MEMBER of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency, Madam Patricia Appiagyei has described the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo as someone who has special love for humanity and is commitment to the development of the vulnerable.

The NPP MP has also reiterated that the party and the entire citizenry are banking their hopes on the leadership of Nana Akufo Addo to rescue Ghana’s ailing economy and improve the lives of Ghanaians.

According to him, characters like Nana Addo are very rare in Africa, stressing that the NPP flagbearer’s commitment to justice and incorruptible society makes him unique amongst his peers. Mama Pat, as she is affectionately called, noted that eight years under the ruling National Democratic Congress has brought nothing but hardship and impoverishment.

Speaking last Sunday during her official campaign launch at Atonsu, the NPP MP cautioned that another four years for President Mahama would be disastrous, stressing that it will ensure the perpetuation of unemployment, higher utility tariffs, increases in prices of goods and services and general hardship.

Patricia Appiagyei, therefore, charged Ghanaians to give change a chance by voting massively for the NPP so that the party can resuscitate the economy and ensure the progressive development of the country. Mama Pat, who expressed optimism about her chances and that of the NPP in the upcoming elections, mocked the ruling NDC for electing a ‘class one’ candidate to contest her.

According to her, Asokwa Constituency is a very popular one endowed with vast opportunity and that “she expected a tougher opposition from the NDC”. She therefore promised over 85 percent of the votes for the NPP come November 7 to help propel the NPP to victory.

Meanwhile, the Asokwa Constituency of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) was a scene of attraction over the weekend after organising a mammoth well attended campaign launch to kickstart political activities for the 2016 elections.

Party bigwigs as well as enthusiastic supporters thronged the constituency to support the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Mad. Patricia Appiagyei, as she recounted her success so far and her vision for the constituency in the coming years.

The occasion was also held alongside “The People’s Forum”, a programme being spearheaded by a local radio station ASHH FM to allow MPs and leadership of the NPP to interact with their constituents.

Amongst colleague MPs who graced the programmed included the Minority Leader and MP for Suame, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Manhyia South MP, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Simmons Osei Mensah, MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako and a host of others.

Mama Pat noted that under her tenure, hundreds of her constituents have benefitted from a scholarship scheme instituted to support brilliant but needy students.

Apart from that, she has also provided educational infrastructure to schools in the constituency with her meager share of the Common Fund whilst the health sector has also benefited tremendously with the construction of a Maternity Ward at Agogo Government Hospital.
