3 Suspected Robbers Remanded Into Custody

The Dunkwa-Offin Circuit court presided over by Justice Asare Nyarko has remanded three suspected armed robbers into police custody to reappear before on July 11, next month.

The three suspects were among a gang of six persons led by one Angel who bade to engage in an armed robbery expedition at Ayanfuri near Dunkwa-Offin in the central region but were arrested by the Dunkwa Police Command.

They are Evans Tetteh, 24, Richard Boadi, 26 and Edwin Clifford Adjei 24. The identity of other three suspects who are at large is immediately not known. However, the leader has been identified as Angel.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges of attempting to rob and carrying of offensive weapons without any lawful authority. Briefing The Chronicle, the Dunkwa District Police Commander, Superintendent Dela Dzansi said, on the 20th   of this month, the police had information that a gang of armed robbers had planned to attack a Chinese national at Ayanfuri

According to Superintendent Dzansi, the police mounted a surveillance to help deal with the suspected robbers so that the people in the area could go on with their daily activities peacefully.

He disclosed that at about 8:00 pm on Wednesday 22nd, the police mounted a road block at the outskirt of Dunkwa and conducted a search on every car that approached.

The police later spotted the suspects in a taxi cab and ordered them to stop. When the car was thoroughly searched, a pump Action and Single Barrel guns were found. Three live BB Cartridges and a locally manufactured pistol were also retrieved from the suspects.

However, three other suspects led by the gang leader, Angel who was said to be riding on a motor bike managed to escape. It was gathered that he got wind of the presence of the police and quickly run away.

The police gathered that the leader, Angel was carrying other sophisticated weapons that were going to be used for the operation. Superintendent Dzansi told The Chronicle that the police were seriously looking for the three on the run and appealed to the general public to volunteer information to the police about any suspected robbers in their vicinity.
