JUN 28, 2016 LISTEN

The Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu, has said his party is working to have parliamentary primary held in the Krowor constituency within the next month.

This follows the stepping down of the party's parliamentary candidate for the Krowor constituency, E.B Borketey, reportedly over ill-health.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Nukpenu confirmed that, E.B Borketey had been battling with illness for some time now, noting that “it was his wish that he could at least recover quickly and go on a serious campaign. But it is prudent for him as a person to look at his general health than to go into a campaign  without good health,” he noted.

Despite the circumstances, Mr. Nukpenor maintained that “there was no medical report that showed that he is not an unfit person, but after the primary, things turned the other way round.”

He said the  party will soon meet and fix a date for the primary to replace E.B Borketey.

“Tomorrow as a party we will meet, discuss, consult national headquarters and quickly we will arrange to have new primary to have another person elected to lead the people of Krowor. We wish to do that in the next one month to get a new candidate for the people over there.”
