MAY 31, 2016 LISTEN

Family of a 22-year-old man who allegedly died from Police brutality at Krofrom have invoked curses on Police personnel in the Ashanti region after an autopsy report exonerated the Police.

Youth of the community also took to the streets burning tires and blocking roads after the report revealed that the circumstances that led to Tawiah’s death was natural.

According to the autopsy report conducted by Dr. Osei Sampene the Pathologist and his assistant Dr. Ernest Adjei all of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Tawiah died from a congestive heart failure.

But family of the deceased have rejected the report and accused some officers of the security agency of covering up the actual cause of Tawiah’s death.

A relative of the deceased invoked curses on the Police and doctors who conducted the autopsy for peddling falsehood.

“Kofi Boakye promised us a thorough investigation into the incident but today he is saying on Hello FM that our brother died of natural causes.

“If they insist that it was a heart attack that killed our brother no problem but we live him and the doctor into the hands of all the deities in Kumasi...they will be dealt with.”

Starr News understands the latest clash with the police has left a number of properties destroyed including a police vehicle.

Background
According to residents, several calls that the deceased was not a criminal and was a case of mistaken identity fell on deaf ears as the Police officers brutally assaulted the victim with batons and dragged him on the streets till he became unconscious.

He was later bundled into a Police van and sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

His death angered the youth of Krofom who blocked roads and burnt tires in protest of the youngman’s death.

The three Police officers were subsequently arrested by the Ashanti regional Police command.
