UNITED FOR CHANGE MOVEMENT PRESS RELEASE
19.11.2014 LISTEN

A government is voted for to deaden the suffering of the masses, but the Mahama-led administration seems to be charting a course completely worlds apart from the noble one they swore to pursue.

Hypnotized to the core with the scandalous news item of a Ghanaian lady who had been busted at Heathrow trafficking a 12.5kg of cocaine, a boatload of comments and statements have come out from the seat of government and some self-appointed spokespersons of this administration which sought to discredit the whole incident.

In their continued efforts to dabble in naked falsehood and throwing dust into the eyes of the good people of Ghana, the Mahama administration, represented by the minister of communications in the person of Omane Boamah, forcefully came out to give a version so bizarre even kids would find extremely difficult to assimilate. Government and its surrogates denied a Ghanaian had been arrested in the first place. When hit with the unvarnished truth about the incident, they changed the tune suddenly. They rubbished the report that the lady was with a 12.5kg in her hand luggage.

They also pontificated that the said lady wasn't Ruby Adu Gyamfi but one Ametefe, and that she wasn't holding a diplomatic passport but an ordinary Ghanaian passport. What beats our imagination is this grand tendentious agenda to obfuscate the worrying issues surrounding this international disaster! Instead of speaking to the core issues regarding how the lady was able to bypass the scanners and numerous security posts at the Kotoka International Airport unnoticed, this government is rather engaging in tangentials. In their effort to clarify the issues surrounding this cocaine saga, and to paint this administration white, NACOB has rather muddied the waters.

Their version is ridiculously infantile and predictable! It didn't take a genius to figure out that NACOB would come out to state that they were hugely aware of Ametefe trafficking the cocaine from Ghana to Heathrow, and that she had been on their radar for some years now! We ask this simple question, when will we ever bust drug traffickers in Ghana generally and KIA specifically? This clearly makes nonsense of the NACOB's comedy of a statement! This Mahama administration and truth have become deadly foes! This scandal has dealt a huge blow to our reputation internationally as a result of government's lukewarm attitude towards combating drug trafficking from Ghana to Europe and the world at large.

Ghanaians are in a quandary! We are at the crossroads! Mahama has left our entry points very porous! Kotoka International Airport has become a safe haven for hardened criminals! Ghana has suddenly but unenviably become the gateway to the world as far as drug trafficking is concerned. No government worth its salt would invite this kind of scandal upon its citizenry.
